Dean is a good friend from our Saskatchewan days. His parents are very close friends of ours. He has a somewhat similar sense of travel and adventure that we do and he also writes a very entertaining blog about his travels. He was recently in Brugge and wrote a great post. I enjoyed it a lot as we have been there as well. Do yourself a favour, grab a coffee (or glass of wine) and read about their adventure exploring the movie settings of In Brugge. Good flick, highly recommend it. Then keep exploring his other posts.
As an aside, it amazes me at how many ways you can see Brugge spelled.

I had to hit the Sask link! Did you live up North!?
Lived in Saskatoon and Martensville. You from up that way?
Saskatoon for 15 years. Hometown is Reggie and I now live at a lake about 70k from there! Small world 🙂
Very much so. I miss it there but, life moves on and so did we. Have a zillion friends there.
Very true! I have left and come back a few times. For now have decided this is my homebase and everywhere else is visitable….. but never know, getting the itch to make a move even if just for a year or so!
Same problem we have, the itch. We have lived in Alberta 3 times, sask twice and came out of Manitoba. We ended up here cause the extra travel time in and out of toon town was a killer. Calgary made sense. Still, i miss the northern lakes and the friends a lot. Get there as often as we can.
Ohh… speaking of music. A 25 plus year live music venue closing it doors for good here this weekend. Sort of the Louies/Amigos of Regina. Sad times…. saw everyone from the Hip to Sara McLaughlin there along the way. Don’t know your age, but a local band the Waltons is getting together for the last night (was sort of their home base back in the day)
That is something else I miss. Calgary’s music scene is nowhere near as good as Saskatoon. Strolling down Broadway on a Tuesday night and Lydia’s, Amigo’s, Bud’s and the Roxy all have live music, hear, not so ‘so much. Love the Walton’s. What place is closing? Been to Regina a bunch of times, probably been there.
Been called many things. The Venue, Channel One, The State, been the Distrikt for past many years. Drafting the post on it as we speak! One thing about here, we have a great live music scene for cities of our size! And totally miss the Broadway stretch!
Look forward to the post. We also have a disproportionate amount of talented musicians for a place our size, from Jack Semple to the Sheepdogs.
